Selective Absorbing Surface Based on CrO3: Evaluation of Substrates Treatment Influence on the Films Optical Properties

Solar energy presents the greatest potential by which to produce heat with reduced carbon emissions for power generation. To increase its harvesting and conversion, it is necessary understand fundamental concepts develop new materials. Although many processes can obtain selective absorbing surfaces (SAS) application in solar exploitation, including electroplating methods, those have not sufficiently investigated substrate’s treatment impact. The present work investigates 304 stainless steel (SS304) substrates influence on film’s (coatings) optical properties of SAS based CrO3 electroplating. For this purpose, three main steps featured methodology: treatment, coatings deposition, physical-chemical characterization. former was performed detergent cleaning (DC), acid (AT), electropolishing (EP). Then, were electroplated towards chromium deposition different times. Finally, films characterized Profilometry, UV-Vis-NIR, IR regions Spectroscopy Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). results indicated that, terms surface treatments substrate, electropolished (EP) presented average roughness values 35 nm, reflectivity 5.09%, clear morphological difference (SEM) when compared other study (DC AT).
